Daily life of a digital nomad: Hot news and making money from side hustles

Spread the love

Preface

I originally planned to compile trending news and weekly charts on YouTube to generate traffic and make money.

But I later realized it was time-consuming and labor-intensive, with no direct traffic or revenue. On the contrary, making money itself is an evergreen topic, one that’s always hot and worth documenting, organizing, and sharing.

I’ve always wanted to reuse some of my daily life, like sharing food and street scenes. These are things I already spend money on, like breakfast, lunch, and dinner, or going for walks and traveling. Reusing and sharing doesn’t incur any additional costs.

However, due to the lack of living expenses, these often lead to anxiety and lack the sense of a good life.

The core principle is to first earn a certain amount of money, a stable and continuous income, before sharing other good things. If someone can’t even provide for basic needs

then they will inevitably need to work constantly and use other means to ensure a basic income, leaving them with no time for other things, not even for eating or sleeping.

Just like this blog, the server renewal balance is completely gone, and the blog’s continued existence remains a question.

Recording or tutorial

Tutorials need to succeed first, and then be organized after success.

However, sharing is simply about recording, not success or failure; failure is part of the story.

I’m still a novice when it comes to digital nomadism, passive income, and side hustles. So far, the income I’ve earned isn’t nearly enough to survive.

Later, I’ll prioritize documenting some of the areas I’ve tried and their case studies, including both successful and failed attempts at making money, for my own reflection and for readers’ reference.

Will I prioritize organizing my blog, then converting the text into a video? In short, content about side hustles is something I’ll continue to update. Other topics, such as food, beautiful scenery, and technology, will be shared once I’m able to generate stable income.

The chart below shows the Google Ads revenue for this blog. This month’s revenue is zero (14 page views, 4 ad impressions). I’m likely generating this data from just opening the blog.

Time and energy

I’ve created numerous blogs before, including AI, Info, WordPress, Nomad, and HomeLab.

But I’ve realized I don’t have the time to update and maintain them all.

The same goes for YouTube. Of the five channels, only one truly focuses on my money-making endeavors. The other food and scenery I share are just casual recordings that don’t take up too much time.

So, I’ll prioritize this blog for future updates until a specific area warrants its own separation.

Below is a YouTube channel’s earnings today: $0.28

Recent money-making direction

Without going into details, let’s briefly summarize the core ideas.

First, independent WordPress blogs have always been the focus of digital nomads. Digital nomads are about earning passive income and sharing a wonderful life of travel, food, and fun. This theme has never changed.

Second, YouTube has shifted its content, reducing the time spent on food and beautiful scenery to focus on side hustles and internet-based earning. Hot news is temporarily abandoned because making money itself is hot news, not news.

TikTok live streaming and PK. I recently successfully developed a webpage and live streaming interactive content. I slept all night. I felt like I made $0.5, but the next few live streams weren’t very popular, as they weren’t live streamed. Later, I was banned for 7 days due to an avatar issue, and was only unbanned today.

As for live streams, I plan to continue with the fish tank interaction. Since it’s a real-life setting, the content can be controlled, and there won’t be any bans due to inexplicable user avatar sensitivity. I’ll see if anyone tips tonight’s fish tank interaction live stream.

My design is to have colorful LED lights flashing when entering the live stream room, send gifts to feed the fish once, and receive a TTS voice message of thanks when you like a comment. The LEDs also flash to make the fish swim, maintaining a realistic interaction in the live stream.

Tips

Because I know a bit about programming, I was able to use ESP32 and Python to set up the livestream.

If you’re someone who doesn’t know programming, you can buy a pre-developed solution and then livestream it.
